Burns

At United Medical Rehabilitation Hospital, we have seen the impact that burns can have on an individual’s life, both physical and emotional. A burn is damage to body tissue caused by heat, cold, electricity, chemicals or radiation. Injuries range from first degree burns that affect outer layer of the skin to second or third degree burns that extend into deeper tissues.

Our treatment plans have been designed with the collaboration of both Physical and Occupational Therapy, along with Nursing and the most current medical modalities. Our goals are directed to help patients manage their pain as they recover from tissue, muscle, and nerve damage making all attempts to avoid severe scarring. We feel that incorporating our Social Worker into the plan of care completes our holistic approach, which allows us to treat the whole patient—body, mind and spirit—with exceptional care.
